Discover the Story of
the Former Taisha Station,
an Important Cultural Property
Since its opening in 1912,
Former Taisha Station been known as the gateway to Izumo Taisha.
The building in its current form was constructed in 1924,
so its 100th anniversary was in 2024(Reiwa 6).
While valuing the station’s status as an Important Cultural Property,
a new story now begins.
Architecture
Roof tiles modeled after the driving wheels of steam locomotives and the coffered-ceiling waiting room reveal details of skilled artisan craftsmanship.
History & Memories
This is the platform where as many as 1.4 million people once arrived each year. Experience echoes of the excitement of an era when steam locomotives were the ultimate form of overland travel.

As the building has been faithfully restored to its early Showa-era design, there are no restrooms inside.
Please use the facilities located in the nearby Multipurpose Building. -

- Open flames are strictly prohibited anywhere on the premises to protect this historic property.
- No Smoking
- Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the building or on the grounds.
- Animals
- For the protection of this historic site, pets must be kept in a cart, cage, or carrier at all times while inside the building.
Certified assistance dogs are welcome.
We kindly ask all visitors to help preserve these cultural treasures by treating them with the utmost care.
